OOC: Character Survey

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Duibhín is about 5’11” and thin with sleek muscles.

2. How old is he? Blood Elves tend to be considered adults from age 60-110, and Duibhín falls neatly into this range, probably in his early to mid 70’s or so.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? Duibhín walks as if he has a stack of books on his head. His gait tends to be measured and graceful with his back straight, shoulders back and head up.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? His health is good, though he does have an addiction to magic that he can’t get rid of.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? He tends to be graceful when he is aware of himself. He carries himself with pride and walks accordingly. Fluid, even steps.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? He’s attractive, leaning a little more towards pretty than a flat-out handsome .

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Very pale, with minimal scars, aside from an old, somewhat puckered mark in the meat of his thigh from an arrow injury he took in Darnassus.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. His hair is long - very long, and tends to look well-groomed despite whatever situation he’s in. It’s the sort of black that’s nearly blue it’s so shiny.

9. What color are his eyes? Bright, neon green

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? His hair is probably his most noteworthy feature, honestly. It’s waist-length and glossy and he maintains it as his pride and joy.

11. What are his chief tension centers? Feet and thigh. He’s used to standing for long periods of time in meetings and sometimes that flares up and makes the old injury to his thigh ache. Headaches aren’t as common but have been known to happen.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? Like a peacock exploded into red, black, and gold clothing. Fantasy, fancy, and over-done. He enjoys rich fabrics and clothing that fits his body and shows it off to his advantage.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? He wears his clothing with confidence and they near-always fit well and he knows how to make it work.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? Often yes. He may have some slightly-more subdued robes for dealing with certain situations - for instance wearing lighter colors in Orgrimmar to keep cool.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? probably commando.



Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? He has a pleasant, medium tone voice and a rather excellent singing voice if he does say so himself (it’s decent, don’t let him fool you. It’s not the best)

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? He does not hesitate when he has made his mind up in what to say. He speaks in a normal to soft, conversational indoor voice but he has been known to raise the dial on volume when he gets upset or excited.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? He speaks well, and was instructed in proper grammar. His accent is pleasant, but slight. He does sometimes have a bit of a snotty tone to his wording though.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? He is fluent in Thalassian, Orcish, and Common, and speaks a decent conversational Zandali, as well as Darnassian, and Taur-ahe.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? No, not really. He tends to have the decorum to stick with what language he is speaking at the time.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? A mix of both. He tends to try to think his words through but every now and again his mouth outruns his brain.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? When in his element, he is eloquent and carefully spoken - but he tends to crack under too much pressure and may lose the eloquence for something more common.



Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
He’s definitely more book-smart. He’s good at reading people but rarely adept at reading how best to proceed when out of his element.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He tends to need plenty of time to deliberate a good course of action

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? He’s intuitive and idealistic, tying emotions to thoughts easily.

4. What kind of education has the character had? He was trained both at home and in the Elven Mage Academy

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? Magic, culture, and history are his favorite areas to learn about and definitely ping his interest more overall.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Extroverted. He absolutely loves people and being around people!

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? He tends to be cheerful and laid-back, but when he has his mind set to accomplish something, he will see it through to the end. Overall he has a pleasant, warm demeanor!

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? He tends to push wariness or suspicions to the wayside so that he can approach new situations and people openly.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? Definitely more into reacting after something has happened than openly beginning something.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Flight. He can fight, but he doesn’t like to. Being a walking beacon of bad luck doesn’t help this.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Pranks and humor are all well and good - but he dislikes most bathroom humor (considers it beneath him) and has a grim sort of appreciation for gallows humor in the right moments.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? No.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? The loss of his parents was a terrible blow to him - he doesn’t take loss well as it is. Realizing that the Alliance isn’t all monsters bent on Horde-murder - that was a hard-hitting one as well, and a lesson he carries with him to this day.

14. What does he fear? Being alone. Having his friends “finally” decide they’ve had enough of his shit and dumping him like a bad habit. He could live without magic - although that scares him too, but losing his security net of people permanently terrifies him.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations? Peace? At the very least a standstill in all of this Alliance/Horde warfare. That's his most lofty aspiration. He’d settle for a temporary goal of a new hairbrush.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? That he’s a traitor. That he’s loved and been loved by people of a faction different than his own and that could ruin him if the wrong people found out.



Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. He was very close with his mother and father - especially his mother. He mourns their passing very deeply and still prays for their guidance now and then.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? He absolutely adores his little sister to bits. He’s protective over her (though she needs less protecting than he does).

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? No.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? There are literally too many to name. He has a guild full of people he has adopted into this weird web of a family that he treats the same as siblings, aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers, cousins- you name it. They’re his loved ones, same as his sister and he would do nearly anything for them. He does have two adopted Blood Elves a handful of years younger than him that he considers like his sons and treats as such. Their names are Berenoth and Halvir.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Aureln Dawnstrike - they were friends since childhood. They came from the same village and tended to play together when they were children. She grew up to be a paladin and often acts as his bodyguard on missions.

6. Does he have other close friends? Too many to put a name on. Guildies that he would do anything for.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? He’s ridiculously friendly, so he tends to make friends easily.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? Both are equal because his “family” consists of one other person and he’s adopted his friends as family.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? It’s complicated. Semi-between relationships, potentially seeing someone secretly? He’s not sure what it is right now.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? No.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? His first crush was an older student in the Academy who attempted to help him with his fire-magic skill. First crush blossomed into a first love that he’s still fond of in memories at least.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? The ability to protect him. It isn’t necessarily something he thinks of in the front of his brain but… he likes people who are protective, likes feeling safe. He tends to find himself attracted to the wrong sorts of men for him - but they’re never “bad” guys. Just… they tend to not be Blood Elves and therefore there is a taboo element.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? He has two “adopted” children that he took in. They’re both young adults themselves and he spoils them rotten. They act as a bit of a balance against his dramatics.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? Garrosh could be considered one for his treatment of Elves, but then again so could Jaina. He never had anyone that he knew of that hated him, however.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale? 5

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? Sex is very important and he embraces the idea of it wholeheartedly.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? I’m not really comfortable listing this part on a quiz like this. He’s kinky and romantic.



Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type? He’s a good fit for scorpio.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? Spiritual yes, but not particularly religious. He believes in the Light, but he doesn’t have a holy zeal for it like a priest or paladin.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Morals and ethics to a blood elf tend to be somewhat… curious. He’s much more ethical than most of his kin, and far FAR less likely to stab you in the back for the sake of getting a step higher on the power rung. He tends to believe that you should treat people well and therefore you’ll be treated well in return and he tries to follow the golden rule.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? Duib is incredibly tolerant - more than anything he is very interested in views different from his own and tries to learn what he can. It might not stop the occasional accidental remark - he’s not insensitive, he’s just privileged and with it comes a mindset he can’t always break.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? Duib tends to be open to other races and all sorts of people - except WoW High Elves. They’re one of the few races he flat out refuses to deal with.



Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? He has always been well-off with the sort of money that allows for him to be kept in a relatively spoiled manner.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? His social status has always been comfortable - well-off and decently respected without being enough to make someone else jealous enough to try and take his comfortable lifestyle from him. Well into the echelons of upper-upper middle class.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? His original family home is in a village in a part of the Ghostlands that is still occupied by the spirits of the dead and has yet to be properly cleansed. He keeps a modest townhouse in Silvermoon proper that his sister uses more than he does. It’s elegantly furnished and kept clean (self-sweeping brooms are the best invention mages ever created!) but it tends to stand empty for long periods of time when the siblings aren’t home.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? Clothing, cosmetics, and hair ornaments most often. Sometimes new pets or new things for his pets. He’s spoiled and enjoys buying luxury items.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? He will complain like a loud, angry kitten until the end of time - but he loves being both a mage and an Ambassador. He enjoys both the task and the people it puts him into contact with, and sometimes new situations aren’t ...terrible.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Often playing with his myriad of pets or studying something new and interesting. He’s fond of setting time aside to work on perfecting new potions and poultices as well, and writing the recipes down in his alchemy book.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? He tends to have a rather healthy appetite overall and enjoys food! Rare is the time he won’t show up for a meal.
